ZZZ 2.1 Must-Build A-Rank W-Engines Guide - How Overpowered They are!?

ZZZ version 2.1 has introduced the new limited S-Rank Support Agent, Ukinami Yuzuha. We're sure many Proxies are running low on W-Engines! Today, we'll spotlight the must-build A-Rank W-Engines for ZZZ 2.1. Some are even used by whales and speedrunners – their strength and value are maxed out!

▍ZZZ 2.1 Marcato Desire (Attack)

Analysis

Marcato Desire was a version 1.4 event W-Engine. Its Advanced Stat provides CRIT Rate. Its effect grants an ATK boost upon using an Enhanced Special Skill or Chain Attack; this effect doubles if the enemy is afflicted with a status effect. For DPS agents like Asaba Harumasa or Evelyn who often team up with Agents of the same Attribute, triggering the max effect is easy. Its strength surpasses even the Gnosis Hymn W-Engine, making it the current top A-Rank choice for the Attack role with excellent versatility.

Suitable Agents

Asaba Harumasa, Evelyn, Hugo, Anby

Nearly all Attack agents are quite compatible with Marcato Desire. As long as they can trigger Enhanced Special Skills or Chain Attacks relatively frequently, they meet the basic requirement. Agents who can also maintain high status effect uptime achieve perfect synergy. Currently, the best fits are Asaba Harumasa, Evelyn, and Hugo, though other Attack agents can also use it effectively.

▍ZZZ 2.1 Steam Oven (Stun)

Analysis

Steam Oven has now replaced Precious Fossilized Core as the most versatile A-Rank Stun W-Engine. The reason is simple: Shiyu and Crisis bosses now have significantly higher HP, making Precious Fossilized Core less effective in the current meta.

While Steam Oven doesn't reach the same peak ceiling as Precious Fossilized Core, it offers more balanced Stun capabilities while also providing automatic Energy Regeneration. This optimizes the cycle for using Enhanced Special Skills, giving it better overall performance than Precious Fossilized Core.

Suitable Agents

Lighter, Ju Fufu, Trigger, Qingyi

Lighter is currently the best fit for Steam Oven due to his high Impact requirement. Beyond him, Stun agents like Trigger and Ju Fufu, who rely heavily on cycling their Enhanced Special Skill, also synergize well with Steam Oven, giving it solid versatility.

▍ZZZ 2.1 Electro-Lip Gloss (Anomaly)

Analysis

Electro-Lip Gloss is the most consistently performing A-Rank Anomaly W-Engine. It provides three key effects: Anomaly Proficiency, ATK%, and DMG%. This covers the main multipliers for different Anomaly agents, offering stable returns and generally avoiding issues like diminishing returns.

Weeping Gemini is often mentioned alongside it, but due to its lower stability, Electro-Lip Gloss is the most recommended overall. If you don't purchase the Gnosis Hymn, Weeping Gemini can serve as a substitute.

Suitable Agents

Vivian, Miyabi, Ynagi, Burnice

Electro-Lip Gloss boasts top-tier versatility. Beyond conventional Anomaly agents like Ynagi, it's even the optimal 4-star W-Engine choice for Miyabi. For Anomaly agents, the uptime on this W-Engine's effect is almost always maximized.

▍ZZZ 2.1 Radiowave Journey (Rupture)

Analysis

After Rupture agents were introduced in 2.0, many Proxies found a lack of suitable lower-rarity W-Engines for Yixuan. The Gnosis Hymn W-Engine, Radiowave Journey, is currently the best option. Its Advanced Stat provides HP%, and its effect grants universal Sheer Force upon using a Chain Attack or Ultimate, offering decent value.

Suitable Agents

Yixuan

It's impossible to predict future Rupture agent mechanics based solely on Yixuan. However, Radiowave Journey fits Yixuan exceptionally well. While the typical recommendation is to aim for Yixuan's signature W-Engine (0+1 configuration), if you invest further into her (e.g., 2+0), Radiowave Journey becomes very useful.

▍ZZZ 2.1 Reel Projector (Defense)

Analysis

Caesar's dedicated A-Rank W-Engine finally arrived in version 2.0. Its Advanced Stat provides Impact while its effect significantly enhances Caesar's protective capabilities. For Caesar users without her signature W-Engine, this is practically a must-build option. Shields without W-Engine support struggle to withstand hits in the current version as effectively as before.

Despite the arrival of two limited S-Rank Support agents, Caesar's overall strength remains top-tier. She excels at support while offering the best survivability tools currently available. For Caesar users without her signature, building Reel Projector is highly recommended. The DMG RES reduction effectively increases her shield strength, providing a valuable effect. Crucially, this W-Engine was a free event reward, so most players already have it.

▍ZZZ 2.1 Kaboom the Cannon (Support)

Analysis

Before version 2.1, Kaboom the Cannon was merely considered versatile. With Ukinami Yuzuha's release, the true value of Lucy's signature W-Engine has been revealed! Compared to standard A-Rank W-Engines, it boasts higher base ATK and universally valuable Advanced Stats. Its effect has simple trigger conditions, and multiple Support agents can easily max out its stacks, giving it extremely high value for nearly all Support agents right now.

Suitable Agents

Ukinami Yuzuha, Astra Yao, Lucy, Soukaku

Virtually all Support agents can utilize Kaboom the Cannon effectively. Lucy naturally fits perfectly, maxing the stacks effortlessly. Ukinami Yuzuha (with her extra summons) and Alexandrina Sebastiane (Nekomata) also synergize very well. For Astra Yao without her signature, Kaboom the Cannon is the best alternative. Even Nicole and Soukaku, who have their own dedicated A-Rank W-Engines, find Kaboom the Cannon highly suitable in certain situations. Overall, it's an exceptional W-Engine worth building multiple copies of.
